Aquawicket; you should join and help some of the guys at the megadrum forum. They are on to writing a new config software and to my understanding they use RtMidi.

Sorry for going off topic.

Btw, I like your idea horsechronic. Let us now what you ended up with.

Either way, your software will need to to use a Midi API.   Are you procramming in C++?  I would recommend c++ as it seems to be the fastest with nearly 0 latency.

I recommend 2 C++ cross platform APIs

RtMidi    and
PortMidi

I've allready developed very nice wrappers for both using the wxWidgets API if you want them. They will allow you to not only open multiple Midi devices at the same time, but your application will be cross platform and work on Windows, Mac and Linux systems.
I try to push wxWidgets as much as I can.   Wink

Hi, I'd like to start by taking my hat off to you for a great program!

Now here's my query, starting with an intro to my question;

I'm a hobbyist programmer, and I'm looking into writing a rythm game based on the midi response from a module, (kind of like GH for PC) but with emphasis on learning and with intent of making it open source ( kind of like stepmania )  so that it is easy to customize.

Question; if I wanted to write the game, would I be best suited to look into accepting messages fed through ETrigger -> Yoke -> My own program?  or
creating my own midi input detect program and start from scratch?

Thnaks in advance

I also agree with him that Aquawicket will give you the best result specially for E-drums.
